As we wrap up this year, I want to encourage you to be looking at your goals for the future. What classes will be the best fit for you? Are you keeping up on your math skills and writing skills? Have you taken the SAT or the ACT? If you are wanting to take advance writing and math next year, have you arranged to take the COMPASS test? It is always nice to have a summer break! However, be proactive in your planning for the next year/s of high school and college. Continue to work on improving your learning skills and what you can do that will help you be successful in the next school year and the future. If you are planning on applying for scholarships, what have you done for community service? A lot of scholarships are looking for well rounded students. What does this mean? Students who have good grades, are involved in extra-curricular activities, gives back to their school and community, and takes on leadership positions within the school will find that they can earn a lot of money in scholarships. Community service that is over one hundred hours is BIG money and your summer break is the time to complete these hours. Speaking of hours, have you considered what you will be doing for your senior project and completing job shadows this summer? Check with Mr. Johnson to see what the requirements are and what you can be doing now. I hope you all have a wonderful break and enjoy your summer.
