Ms. Myer's philosophies can be summarized by these quotes...

"If you hear a voice within you say you cannot paint, then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced." -- Vincent Van Gogh

"I always believed that anybody with a little ability, a little guts and the desire to apply himself can make it." --Willie Shoemaker

"Life is a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired-- you quit when the gorilla is tired." --Robert Strauss

"The important thing in life is to try your best. Be honest with yourself and make an honest commitment to yourself, your family, your friends, and your community. An honest commitment means 100 percent. It means self-discipline... it means loyalty... and it means being able to be counted on in the clutch."

Words of truth for her students are:

"Life is not fair-- get used to it." --unknown

"If you think your teacher is tough, wait until you get a boss." --unknown

"The difference between the possible and the impossible lies in the man's determination." --Tommy Lasorda
