Mrs. Witty is an Eastern Oregon native, growing
up on ranches in the Hereford area, the John Day
Valley, and Encampment, Wyoming. She attended
Encampment High School, graduating in 1981.
In high school, she participated in
basketball, volleyball, track, FFA, pep club,
band, and student council. She was also in 4-H
for ten years.
After high school, she
attended the University of Wyoming, graduating
with a Bachelor of Science degree. While
attending college, she played intramural
volleyball, basketball, and soccer; and waited
in line for hours to get the best seats at
Wyoming Cowboy Basketball games. "I graduated in
four years with no debt, thanks to scholarships
and grants."
Darla is happily married to
Marshall Witty, who farms in the Adrian
community. Her two children, Joseph and Jayna,
attend Eastern Oregon University.
Mrs.
Witty loves her job and enjoys working with the
staff, students, and board members of the
district. She likes sports, reading, camping,
trail-riding, cooking, sewing, puzzles, games of
all kinds, and traveling. Her favorite enjoyment
is spending time with her family.
Darla
has decorated her office with many smiley faces,
and why not? She always has a smile on her face!
Her favorite movie is Monsters, Inc.
Ah! The power of smiles and laughter.
Darla enjoys being involved at her church. In
addition to her duties as Deputy Clerk, she also
assists in the high school girls basketball
program.
Through life, Darla has learned
that with change some things are better, some
things are worse, but mostly things are just
different.
"Life's biggest and most
rewarding challenge is learning to work with the
people around us to make our homes, work places,
and communities better places for everyone."
